Cavs confirm new deal for LeBron James

LeBron to sign 3-year, $100M deal with Cavs

“I just want to let y’all know I’m re-signing back with the Cleveland Cavaliers, my hometown team”, shared LeBron James. I can’t wait to get back to the wine and gold and just get the band back together.

James, 31, returned to Cleveland from the Miami Heat ahead of the 2014-15 season, and he guided the Cavs to the NBA Finals in both seasons since his return.

Wade, a Chicago native who had spent his entire career in Miami, plays his first game with the Bulls at home on October 27 against Boston. James has an option for the third season worth $36 million, said the person who spoke on condition of anonymity because financial terms were not disclosed.

The Cleveland Cavaliers signed LeBron James to a three-year deal Thursday to make his comeback to OH official but they have one free agent left to deal with as J.R. Smith still has no contract in the current 2016 offseason.

He exercised his player opt-out this offseason on a contract that would have paid him $21.6m next year before agreeing to the record deal. He’ll also surpass Jordan as the highest-paid player in a single season in 2017-18 when his salary exceeds $33 million. That’s expected. There’s no telling how long negotiations on the next CBA will take, but now James won’t have to worry about free agency decisions in what could potentially be a very unsettled summer. Lastly, let’s get J.R. [Smith] done. Lebron James delivered the city of Cleveland it’s first championship and he definitely deserves every cent of his money.

However, reports are saying that the Cleveland Cavaliers are doing everything they can to bring J.R. Smith back to the team’s roster for more than just another season.

Later that night, the Warriors play their first game since Durant left the Thunder to join them when they host the San Antonio Spurs, who will be opening a new era for the franchise following Tim Duncan’s retirement.
