The American Civil Liberties Union of Georgia has filed a lawsuit on behalf of a couple against the state after the couple was denied registering the name of their 22-month-old daughter.
It has been reported that the couple wants to keep their daughter surname, Allah, which authorities have objection on.
The officials say that the name, which parents have chosen, doesn’t fit in the state’s naming conventions and hence they can’t register it.
The officials added that once the name is registered, they can go to superior court and change it as per as their wish. But before, they need to register some other name.
The couple hopes that justice will be delivered soon.
