Hillary Clinton wins historic USA presidential nomination

Sen. Bernie Sanders looks on after the Vermont delegation cast their votes during roll call on the second day of the Democratic National Convention at the Wells Fargo Center

“Hillary is uniquely qualified to seize the opportunities and reduce the risks we face, and she is still the best darn change-maker I have ever known”, he said.

“Hillary Clinton has never quit on anything in her life”. Though Sanders supporters “are very frustrated and upset”, she reportedly added, “any presidential candidate has the right to pick their vice presidential running mate”. “So it is with a full heart that I’m here today to nominate Hillary Clinton to be the first woman president”, Mikulski said.

One day earlier, Sanders delivered a powerful speech calling for his supporters to rally behind Clinton so as to beat the Republican challenger, Donald Trump.

The nomination became official after her only rival in the race, Vermont senator Bernie Sanders, conceded defeat. Each state had a chance to voice its support for Clinton while praising Bernie Sanders, with South Dakota putting Clinton over the edge.

Hillary Clinton was officially elected at the Democratic candidate after Sanders stopped the roll-call vote and stood by Clinton.

Referring to Republican attacks on his wife at last week’s convention, Clinton said there are two versions of her. “One is real, the other is made up”, he said. She ran for president and lost the Democratic nomination to President Obama in 2008. He’s had flashes of frustration this year, particularly when his own record on trade and law enforcement has been challenged by the party he once led, but has largely stuck to the campaign’s messages.

At the same time, protesters who had spent the day marching in the hot sun began facing off with police. Both Clinton’s and Sanders’ names were placed into nomination for president at the DNC, largely a symbolic gesture for Sanders supporters.

Those of us (like me) who are Clinton delegates are trying to keep lines of communications open.

The Democratic convention drew the party’s biggest stars to sweltering Philadelphia for the week-long event.

After President Obama was shown on screen, Hillary Clinton appeared on the screens via a live feed from NY. This year, he – and she – were criticized after he met privately with Attorney General Loretta Lynch in the middle of the FBI’s investigation into her email use at the State Department.

Bauer-Mayorga pointed out that she did not feel a lot of emotion when Sanders endorsed Clinton to be the Democratic Party presidential nominee.
