PM Benjamin Netanyahu Meets With African Leaders At UN

Abbas Netanyahu differ on UN resolutions on Israel

I invite you (Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas) to speak to the Israeli people at the Knesset in Jerusalem.

Meanwhile, in his address earlier Thursday to the UN General Assembly, Abbas blamed most of the failure towards reaching a two-state solution and the stalemate in negotiations on Israel.

“By the end of this coming year, 100 years will have passed since the Balfour Declaration… by which Britain gave, without any right, authority or consent from anyone, the land of Palestine to another people”, said Abbas, speaking at the United Nations General Assembly in NY.

Erdogan said he believes his country’s recently restored ties with Israel can be useful in encouraging the peace process between Israelis and Palestinians. “If the Palestinians had said yes to a Jewish state in 1947, there would have been no war… and when they do finally say yes to a Jewish state, we will be able to end this conflict once and for all”.

“The Quartet stressed the growing urgency of taking affirmative steps to reverse these trends in order to prevent entrenching a one-state reality of perpetual occupation and conflict that is incompatible with realizing the national aspirations of both peoples”, the statement, issued by the US Department of State, said.

Israel is a close ally of America and presidential candidates often visit Israeli leaders.

“We will not accept any attempt by the U.N.to dictate terms to Israel”.

Netanyahu rejected the idea of greater United Nations involvement in the peace process.

Netanyahu reiterated Israel’s longstanding complaints that the United Nations system is biased against Israel, declaring “the United Nations, begun as a moral force, has become a moral farce”. Mansour said in a statement sent to The Associated Press. Israel is also seeking to become an observer state in the African Union. He said Abbas’ “dangerous words” were “a ticking time-bomb” that would lead to more attacks against Israel.

The top US diplomat added that the US-Israel alliance could also help “create a new relationship within the region that can be powerful in reinforcing that long-term security interest”.
