When Bannon was recently tapped to become the campaign chief of Donald Trump’s Republican presidential campaign, Stern said it brought someone who once represented the fringe of political thought into the mainstream and into the national spotlight. “He is taking hate groups mainstream and helping a radical fringe take over the Republican Party”. Her aim was clearly to diminish him in the eyes of voters who would be uncomfortable voting for someone who appeals to racists.
Trump tried to get ahead of the Democratic nominee, addressing a crowd in Manchester, New Hampshire just minutes before Clinton.
“It’s the oldest play in the Democratic playbook”, he said. “When Democratic policies fail, they are left with only this one exhausted argument: You’re racist, you’re racist, you’re racist”. You’re racist. You’re racist.’ They keep saying it, ‘you’re racist.’ It’s a exhausted and disgusting argument.
Trump called Clinton’s assertions a “tired, disgusting argument”. Polls show minorities overwhelmingly favor Democrat Hillary Clinton.
“Trump’s missteps, stumbles and gaffes seem to outweigh Clinton’s shaky trust status and perceived shady dealings”.
A survey by Quinnipiac University gave Clinton a 51 to 41 percent lead over Trump in a head-to-head race. After Bush claimed that illegal immigration could be described as “an act of love”, an Instagram video Trump posted showed the words, “Forget Love!” Gottfried called for an “alternative right” that could defeat “the neoconservative-controlled conservative establishment”.
Alternative Right was the name of a website set up by “identitarian” Richard Spencer in 2010. The video provoked a hostile response from the Trump campaign.
Trump boasted on Twitter that his national poll numbers are “rising. way up”.
“Donald Trump has built his campaign on prejudice and paranoia”, she said.
“Look, are there some people that are white nationalists that are attracted to some of the philosophies of the alt-right?” He has said that the movement is not inherently racist, arguing it’s guiding philosophy is “nationalist” but not “white nationalist”. “A fringe element has effectively taken over the Republican Party”, she said.
Trump hurled the accusation while reading prepared remarks on a teleprompter at a MS campaign rally on Wednesday.
“They’ve been very disrespectful, as far as I’m concerned, to the African-American population in this country”, Trump said.
Many African-American leaders and voters have dismissed Trump’s message – delivered to predominantly white rally audiences – as condescending and intended more to reassure undecided white voters that he’s not racist, than to actually help minority communities.
Trump met Thursday with members of a new Republican Party initiative meant to train young – and largely minority – volunteers to drive up voter turnout among their peers.
“She has been extremely extremely bad for African Americans”, Donald interrupted. She’s only going to take care of herself, her husband, her consultants, her donors. These are the people she cares about. But she came out with policies over the years. Trump dismissed the criticisms. Addressing that question, Clinton said, “It really does take a lot of nerve to ask people he’s ignored and mistreated for decades, ‘What do you have to lose?’” “It can not get any worse”. “The week after 9/11, George W. Bush went to a mosque and declared for everyone to hear that Muslims ‘love America just as much as I do.’ …” I made policy decisions based on what I thought was right. As a businessman I must tell you, you make a contribution, I didn’t do it for that reason. Advocates speculated that Trump’s goal was to woo independent voters who might support him but are turned off by his harsher stances. In recent days, he’s suggested he might be open to allowing them to stay.
In comments broadcast on Fox News on Wednesday night, Trump said he would be willing to work with immigrants who have abided by US laws while living in the country, backing away from his insistence during the primaries that he would try to deport all 11 million illegal immigrants.
This probably won’t be the last time Hillary Clinton surprises local business owners. Numerous commenters on the pro-Trump page prepared for the big moment by ironically professing their love for Clinton and posting swastikas beside her image.
